Geoff Banninger was struck Wednesday while walking along a path at a youth sports complex. Witnesses say he collapsed, wasn't breathing and had no pulse immediately afterward.
An Arvada man and an umpire rushed to Geoff's side and revived him using CPR. He was treated and released from The Children's Hospital.
The lightning left Geoff with various burns, melted glasses, singed hair, a hole in his shoe, and no memory of the actual strike. Geoff told reporters that he wanted to thank the hospital, everyone who prayed for him, and God for keeping him alive.
He was wearing a yellow t-shirt with the words "God has bigger plans for me" printed on it.
