Covering the Costs

Even with skyrocketing premiums in the past five years, a new survey finds Colorado employers are still paying for most of their employees' health insurance. That's according a survey by the Mountain States Employers' Council.

The report finds rates for family health insurance has increased to $923 a month in 2004, up from $506 four years ago.

Employers are paying an average of 68 percent of the costs for family coverage, up from 66 percent five years ago.

Employee-only coverage increased from $182 a month to $318, but employers are paying 83 percent of costs this year, down slightly from 85 percent in 2000.
