As rain and snow pulls away from the I-25 Corridor this morning, our main concern is fog, which could be dense in spots through the morning commute. Roads are of lesser concern, as most should simply be wet. However, secondary roads and any bridges and overpasses away from city warmth could be a bit slick, so please be careful. Head to the "Weather" Tab for more information on the forecast.
Five members of the Crandall family crouched in a small closet
waiting for winds and hail to pass as the tornado ripped apart
their home 30 miles south of Las Animas.
Sharon Crandall says she watched as the tornado first passed by,
then circled back around. She says she heard a loud boom and saw
the roof fly into the sky.
Crandall credits personal attention from the National Weather
Service for helping the family escape serious injury.
She says someone from the weather service called the family's
home shortly before the tornado struck telling them they were in
its direct path.
Crandall says the family had been watching a movie and not
paying attention to the news.
