We told you about Mike Jones’ new book last month, it tells all about his alleged relationship with Ted Haggard. Bookstores in Colorado Springs turned Jones away telling him they would not host a signing, but Jones came to town anyway.

For the record, I'm a former New Lifer, though my reasons for leaving were not tied to this scandal. Ted Haggard is a man who made a grievous mistake--a mistake that cost him his livelihood and caused a lot of sorrow among the members of his church. But there is no sin so grievous that would make me despise the man--or anyone else for that matter. I ascribe no infallibility to members of the clergy. He is human just like the rest of us--and just as in need of the forgiveness of God. In all honesty, I applaud Mike Jones for coming out with his accusations. I can't bring myself to hate him when all he did was bring out the truth, painful though it was. Will I read the book? No. While I have nothing against a person's first amendment rights, I have no desire to repollute my mind with bad memories.

New Life, and the rest of the ultra-right evangelical churches, is to Christianity what Hamas and Al Qaeda are to Islam. They are extremists. They each spread their short sighted interpretation of their respective holy books through intolerance and lies. It is a good think that Mike Jones has taken a step to expose the hypocrisy that is going on in these groups within this country. We are fighting a war to stop religious extremists in the Middle East. Hopefully, actions like this will stop extremists in the U.S.

Of all sins, hypocrisy is one of the most evil. Mike Jones deserves our praise and thanks for putting an end to Ted Haggard's hypocrisy.

Mike Jones end will be eternally sad. He has no righ to go New Life Church to try to push his agenda on them and no one else. If you have to make someone look bad to make yourslef look good, you don't need to look good.

New Life, you are burying your head in the sand. You are just pushing Haggard and the other gay men in your congregation farther back in the closet. Read the book, maybe it will help your other gay men in your congregation and staff accept their sexual orientation, instead of getting to the point they act in desparation. Jones gave you a powerful tool (his book), read it and use it. Gay people in New Life, check out "church directory" at www.gaychurch.org, there are dozens churches in Colo Springs Boulder and Denver area where you are welcome and you dont need to hide being gay, they see gayness as one of the many GIFTS from God.

Poor Ted. It would seem that "God" (which one? Take your pick. There are so many to choose from) seems to have abandoned New Life's homosexual, drug using, liar and hypocrite. And I thought "God" loves and forgives ALL his children. Apparently the disingenuous folks up at the New Life scam didn't get that memo. To quote Epicurus (on God): "Is he willing to prevent evil but not able? Then he is impotent. Is he able but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Whence then is evil?" Anyone up for a little snake handling?
