Former baseball commissioner and California gubernatorial candidate Peter Ueberroth has been appointed chairman of the U-S Olympic Committee's new board of directors.

Ueberroth will lead the eleven-person volunteer board in setting U.S.O.C. policy and overseeing its finances.

The 66-year-old formerly led the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics to a record profit.
