New Jersey school district officials have issued an apology to student Andre Jackson after they ordered a picture of Jackson and his boyfriend kissing to be blacked out of the high school yearbook.
The district says it regrets the decision and would reissue a clean copy to any student who wants one.
Jackson had paid $150 for a special personal tribute page where the controversial photo appeared. The 18-year-old noted that the yearbook is filled with pictures of heterosexual couples kissing.
The district's assistant superintendent flagged the picture of the two boys because he says he was concerned that the photo could upset parents.
