The Colorado Commission on Higher Education has approved a tuition hike that will increase the cost of college for most University of Colorado students by 6% this fall. CU's Board of Regents is expected to quickly follow the commission's actions and approve a tuition hike effective July 1st.
The commission appointed by the governor oversees all public colleges and universities in the state and provides the authority for tuition increases. Nearly 35,000 CU students would see tuition rise 6% this fall, while 17,000 others could see an increase of up to 15%.
Students in arts and sciences would pay the 6% hike. Nursing students at the Health Sciences Center in Denver would 7.9% more, while their counterparts at the Colorado Springs campus would see a 9.7% increase.
