Locally heavy rain will remain possible overnight, with any showers and storms. Areas likely to see additional heavy rain will likely be east of I-25 and along HWY 50 from Canon City eastward. Remember, a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through 6pm Wednesday, where another day of thunderstorms is possible. Head to the KKTV 11 Weather Tab for more information on the forecast for Wednesday and beyond.
It's a process some believe convinces the sky to rain or snow, it's called cloud seeding. But it's future in Colorado Springs is uncertain.
In November of 2002, the city spent more than $70,000 on cloud seeding, which injects silver iodide into the clouds with the hope of creating precipitation.
So far, no one's sure if the efforts have worked or not. A final report on the findings is not yet available.
But, with budget cuts on the horizon, funding for cloud seeding could dry up by next year.
