Authorities report an arrest has been made in connection to the recent murder of Robert Piserchio, 50, of Pueblo. A joint investigation with Colorado Springs Police led to the arrest of Colorado Springs resident Aaron M. Wilkerson, 25.

Wilkerson was wanted on suspicion of a number of robberies and possible frauds that happened in Colorado Springs in early December.

"We can do some great work together, and that's exactly what this was capturing this suspect both for our robbery and their homicide," said CSPD spokesperson Lt. David Whitlock.

Piserchio was found in his home in Pueblo on December 10th. The house had been set on fire. Piserchio's body was discovered inside. Authorities said he had been beaten, stabbed and burned.

"It's a positive first step," said Fountain Police Chief Dan Corsentino. Piserchio was Corsentino's brother-in-law. "I think there's other pieces to this puzzle that are going to reveal themselves."

The arrest is some comfort to Corsentino’s family during a difficult time. Investigators are still following leads and may discover more people connected to the death of Piserchio.

"They're very aggressively looking for any associates or suspects. The best thing [any suspect] can do at this point, is to turn themselves in," Corsentino said.

According to a report released Wednesday, investigators from Pueblo developed evidence linking Wilkerson to the death of Piserchio, and worked closely with detectives in Colorado Springs this week to track him down in Colorado Springs.

Authorities spotted a car they suspected Wilkerson was driving around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Investigators report Wilkerson led them on a chase, crashing into an unmarked CSPD vehicle near the intersection of Stone Street and Fillmore. He was arrested a short time later.

Wilkerson remains at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center facing charges of Aggravated Robbery, ($250,000 bond) and Felony Murder ($500,000 bond). No photo of Wilkerson is available at this time for investigatory reasons.

In a written statement, Pueblo Sheriff Kirk Taylor said “I want to publicly commend the Colorado Springs Police Department, as well as our other state and local law enforcement partners that assisted in the apprehension of this dangerous individual.”

There is still a need to locate and talk with Matthew (Green) Barnes, Age 30, related to this incident.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office at (719)583-6250, Pueblo Crime Stoppers (719)542-STOP or Colorado Springs Crime Stoppers (719) 634-STOP.

The people who commented previously got it right. An innocent wonderful person is being accused. Aaron is being portrayed as a violent dangerous criminal. anyone who actually knows him knows he isnt capable of taking a life. and those who are only threatened by how awesome of a person he is are the ones so cowardly as to place the blame on him.

Has anyone noticed they havent mentioned the 3 women who stole piserchios wallet? Instead of finding real murders who are still on the street the police task force fbi and all the other departments sure did love taking credit arresting a good person. whom isnt capable of this crime. hes a good person, bad people love placeing the blame on such a person. i bet if the police bothered to look into the people who put the blame on aaron, theyd probably find out all those callers are connected. for the two prior posters THANK YOU for knowing what a good person aaron is. The people whom put the blame on him... keep placeing blame hurting the innocent but everything in time will come full circle. also my sympathys to the Piserchio Family as of now an innocent man is being charged for your loss. I truelly hope the actual murderer is found and taken off the streets since they are the truelly dangerous and violent person.

Aaron has his first court appearance tomorrow in Pueblo and still no more arrests have been made involved around this murder. When are they going to realize they don't have the murderer and find them? Where is the justice? Just because Aaron is a person with a past, does not make him a murderer. He simply is not capable of such a crime. There is someone who is though and that is who they should be looking for to bring that person to justice. The victim of this horrific crime deserves justice too and that means putting the person or persons that did this away for life. Not settling for someone because he would be an easy target. I truly hope they are still looking for the one who did this, because they are still out here.
