Pueblo Central's magical run has come to an end.
The Wildcats were hammered in the 3A Semifinals by Steamboat Springs 35-7 at Dutch Clark Stadium. The Sailors, led by University of California QB recruit Austin Hinder's 329 yards passing, raced to a 20-7 halftime lead and never looked back.
Central Quarterback Max Lerille gave the Wildcats an early first-quarter lead when he scrambled for his team's only touchdown of the game. But that's the last time the Wildcats held a lead in the school's biggest football game in decades.
Central, who was undefeated for the first time since 1961, earned the #1 overall seed in the playoffs. They finish 2009 campaign 12-1.
