A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect at NOON and last through MIDNIGHT from most of Southern Colorado. Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain once again. Burn scars and areas that saw heavy rain yesterday will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
National Transportation Safety Board investigators met Sunday with Jefferson County officials. They're trying to find out what caused a girder to fall from a highway overpass Saturday.
CDOT spokeswoman Stacy Stegman said the girder collapsed after braces holding it in place gave way.
Three people were killed when the 40 ton girder fell on their SUV at an I-70, C-470 interchange near Golden.
Colorado Rep. Bob Beauprez says investigators are looking into the possibility of criminal tampering, but Jefferson County Sheriffs believe no foul play was involved.
East and westbound lanes of I-70 were reopened Sunday.
