An independent auditor says testing for the state's emergency medical personnel needs an overhaul.
The auditor's comment comes after 20 of Colorado's EMT's were certified between 2001 and 2003 after they failed the state exam. Six others passed but were told they failed.
The auditor says pervasive problems exist and the exams have not been revised for several years. But the state has not had any reports of patients being harmed or receiving inadequate treatment because of the inaccurate testing.
