Aurora's fire chief has retired after being accused of having an affair with his legal adviser and playing golf during work hours.
Casey Jones, who had led the fire department since 2002, declined comment after announcing his retirement Friday.
He previously had denied having the affair, and said he always put in at least 50 hours a week.
The city had hired a private group to investigate his conduct after he was accused in a personal blog by Rob Werking, an assistant city attorney.
Werking said Jones was having an affair with his estranged wife, Julie, the fire department's legal adviser.
He also said Jones was playing golf on city time.
Rob Werking was fired after posting the blog, and his wife was reassigned.
