The Forest Service says a Hotshot firefighting crew from Durango is headed to Greensburg, Kansas, to help residents recovering from a devastating tornado.

The Forest Service says the Federal Emergency Management Agency asked for help providing resources to areas struck by the tornado, severe thunderstorms and flooding over the weekend.

The crew may be in Kansas for up to two weeks.

The Forest Service says mobile food and shower services, a drinking water truck, and a mobile supply van also are being prepared to make the trip.
