A monument has been unveiled to the late, long-time western Colorado congressman, Wayne Aspinall.
No one did more to bring water to the West and western Colorado during his 12 terms in Congress than Aspinall, who served in both world wars.
The granite memorial, in his hometown of Palisade, quotes Aspinall's famous remark: "In the West, when you touch water, you touch everything."
The Democrat, who was defeated in the 1972 primary, died in 1983.
