A woman was plucked off a Palmer Park trail by helicopter after falling 15 feet. It happened Sunday afternoon around 5:30.
The woman was reportedly hiking with a friend when she slipped on gravel and fell about 15 feet. Fortunately, her friend was carrying a cell phone and called for help.
Lt. Brian Keyes with the Colorado Springs Fire Department says with the number of trails in Palmer Park added with poor directions to where the woman was, it took rescue crews more than 25 minutes to locate the injured woman.
Rescue crews opted for an air-lift to get the woman out of the park since it took so long to get to her. She was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in good condition, suffering only minor injuries including a sprained ankle.
