A canoe trip on Dowdy Lake turns tragic.

Larimer County sheriff's officials say a 35-year-old Greeley man whose canoe overturned on the lake yesterday died after spending more than two hours underwater.

Coroner's officials identified him as Edwin C. Heiden.

Sheriff's officials say Heiden, his 36-year-old brother and his ten-year-old nephew were all in the canoe when it flipped this afternoon.

Another boater helped get Heiden's brother and the boy to safety, but they couldn't find Heiden.

Sheriff's officials say only the boy was wearing a life jacket.

Sheriff's officials say they're not sure how the canoe flipped.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.
