A Longmont man convicted last year of child abuse in the drowning death of his two-year-son has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a policeman.
Gil Smith, a former Longmont city employee, was arrested Friday afternoon.
The Longmont Daily Times-Call reported that Smith was being held in the Boulder County Jail and would appear in court tomorrow.
The jail did not return a call asking that Smith be made available to comment.
When he was arrested, he was still serving a 60-day sentence in the death of his son, serving the time on weekends.
The assault allegedly occurred when he was taken to jail after failing a sobriety test given after his vehicle collided with another vehicle.
