Pentagon Extends Tours

The Pentagon will extend tours for active duty soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan by 3 months. The announcement was made Tuesday by the Secretary of Defense. Most troops will now be deployed for 15 months at a time instead of the usual 12.

Approximately 45 hundred troops from Fort Carson are deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Those men and women are with the 2nd BCT and the 43rd Area Support Group. Some of those soldiers are on their second, third and even fourth deployments, so Tuesday's announcement was not a welcome one to many of their families. Perhaps to buffer their disappointment, The Pentagon also announced that in addition to the 3 month extension, soldiers will now be guaranteed at least 12 months between deployments.

I wish all the politicians husbands/wives/ sons/daughters/nieces/nephews were in Iraq fighting with my family. Maybe then they would be so anxious to extend the troops already there for their political purposes.

Most service members will adhere and will not complain about this decision. I guess more soldiers going to loose their wife and girlfriends to JODY.
