Police looking for the person who opened fire on a group of people watching television in their front room. It happened just after 8 p.m. Tuesday night at a home on the 900 block of Costilla Street.

Less than an inch of glass separates the living room of 937 Costilla Street with the outdoors. If one of the bullets fired through the glass Tuesday night was an inch lower, Michelle Wallace's story would have a different ending.

"If I had moved a little slower, or they had a little better aim, I'd probably not be here," she said.

The shots hit the couch, the coffee table, an interior wall and Michelle who was one of five people at home at the time.

"The guy sitting next to me hit the floor, and I felt the next one come in right through here and graze the top of my head," Wallace said.

"It was very lucky that there wasn't anybody hurt or perhaps even killed in this incident. It's a very random thing," said police spokesperson Lt. David Whitlock.

The shooter stood outside the home, looked in the window and fired and then ran from the scene.

"It would be pretty clear to anyone who was firing into the house that it was occupied at the time. That's another facet of this that concerns us gravely," Whitlock said.

According to Whitlock, police do not have reason to believe this shooting is connected to two other recent drive by shootings in Colorado Springs. Michelle Wallace said she has no enemies, which only adds more questions to this seemingly random act.

"No matter who it was, it doesn't make sense," Wallace said.

A witness told police when the shots were fired, they saw an Hispanic man, about 5' 8" in his late teens to early twenties. He reportedly had short brown hair and scruffy facial hair, and he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
