She works full-time like many of us do, but on the side, “Jennifer” is part of a business that's as secretive as it is lucrative. It’s the business of being an escort.

“Jennifer” wanted to remain anonymous because she has a dark secret. She tells 11 News that she got started as an escort nearly two years ago when she answered an ad in the newspaper for female entertainers. When she showed up for the interview, she realized it was much more than that.

"I do what it takes to take care of myself. I don't care what other people think because I'm not a whore, and I know I'm not a whore."

Jennifer says that at least half of her clients are married. “There’s no kissing. That's a very intimate thing between two people, so it’s just massage and it’s usually in the nude," she says. “If you're massaging, you can touch ‘down there’, but I don't let them touch me."

In her Craiglist ad, Jennifer describes herself as ‘sweet’. She thinks that's why men are drawn to her over the dozens, maybe even hundreds of escorts we found listed. Those were just the escorts in Colorado Springs.

“I charge $100 for a half hour and $180 for an hour. I used to charge a lot more, but with the economy right now, it's very slow and it's better to make something than nothing at all, so I dropped my price." Jennifer says at one time, she was making $6,000 a month.

She won't go to hotels. It’s house-calls only. Sometimes, the timing is tricky. “I had a guy call me last week. He only had 30 minutes and wanted me to come over since there he only had an hour before his wife got home. I was like, ‘No thanks. I'm not comfortable with that.’"

“I've seen undercover agents who weren't trying to bust me, but they were just wanting to see me for personal reasons. I've seen lawyers, doctors, dentists, police officers. I've seen a lot of military guys and a lot of businessmen."

"I'm a believer. I know that it's wrong in my own eyes because I know that I wasn't brought here to do that, but I do know that it's just temporary right now and not forever."

“I do feel bad at times, especially when you see someone who is happily married because it's deceiving. You feel like there are a lot of married guys out there and you do feel bad. What if that was my husband doing that?"

Jennifer argues though, it's a job and it's what pays the bills. She plans on getting out of the business in the near future. Her parents apparently know about it and while they don’t approve, Jennifer says they still love her anyway.

She did mention that she worries about her safety. She's had some close calls in the past. Ever since she heard about the “Craigslist Killer” from the east coast who was arrested back in April, she is now thinking about carrying Mace.
