The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is warning parents of a man who tried to lure a young girl at a local park.

Authorities say a 12-year-old girl was at Fox Run Regional Park, located at 2110 Stella Drive in northern El Paso County when she was approached by a stranger. The girl says the man asked her several questions; he asked if she was alone, if he could walk her home, and if she would walk over the hill to pet his dog.

The 12-year-old told sheriff's deputies that she ran from him as he continued to call to her to come back. She and her friends left the area and reported what had happened to family members.

The man is described as a white male, 6’ tall, with a medium build. He has dirty blonde hair (parted to the side), facial hair, and cracked/chapped lips. He was wearing a blue pullover hoodie with grey sweatpants and white shoes. He may also have a scar on his cheek. Other witnesses describe him to be in his forties. The man was walking a black dog with shaggy hair. The man was seen by others in the park two weeks earlier with a bicycle.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking park-goers to be aware of this man and report any suspicious activities. They also encourage parents to remind their children of the importance of staying in groups and being aware of people and their surroundings. It is important they do not answer personal questions, such as their name, where they live etc.
