Insufficient Evidence in Bruce Case
A municipal court judge has ruled that anti-tax crusader, Douglas Bruce did not have enough evidence to prove he was a victim of political prosecution.

A case brought by anti-tax crusader Douglas Bruce against members of the Colorado Springs City Council, city attorney, and police chief was dismissed tonight by a municipal court judge for lack of evidence.
Bruce caused quite a stir Tuesday afternoon when Mayor Lionel Rivera and city council members were forced to leave a formal city council meeting and head over to a municipal courtroom to be questioned by Bruce.
Bruce claimed the city was out to get him. His goal was to prove he was a victim of "selective and vindictive political prosecution"... stemming from a trespassing charge.
Back in August Bruce was collecting signatures at a local Costco for his ballot initiative, when he was cited for trespassing by police.
The charge was dropped due to a paperwork mishap. After the dismissal, the city attorney apparently sent out an e-mail to council members asking them if the city should file new charges against Bruce. Bruce says law enforcement and the city were targeting him.

I'm not so sure about the "crybaby" comments. I'm trying to keep an open mind here. I was dismissed as a juror in this case just awhile ago today and it would have been an interesting one to sit on. I'm curious about the case because all he was trying to do is get signatures on a ballot... perhaps he was going overboard, I don't know... but how else do you get signatures when you can't do it on goverment land or private property? Was it really necessary to arrest him? What if the City is out to get him because he is a threat to them... they want to keep the storm water fees coming in... well, I've never agreed to those fees being implemented in the first place.. it's something we already pay for with other tax $$. I admit I don't know much about Bruce himself, but I wouldn't put it past the City to use him to make a "don't mess with our revenue" example!
jessica..i agree with you 100%. I have been approached by this cry baby at sams club and he wouldn't get out of my way one time and i told him he didn't know who he was messing with and he'd better move...the management did tell him to leave and they had to call the police on him ....put a leash on him and lead him out to the Kansas border and let him loose lol...get lost douggie..
DOUG BRUCE IS THE ONLY MAN IN THIS TOWN WITH THE BA--- TO STAND UP TO THE OH SO HIGH AND MIGHTY COUNCIL AND MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT THEY SAY.. THE COUNCIL IS AFRAID OF HIM THAT IS WHY THEY TRY TO MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT WHEN THE TRUTH IS THE COUNCIL ARE THE IDIOTS. HE IS A THORN IN THEIR SIDE AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH HIM. HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT FIGHTS THE TAXES THAT YOU AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY BECAUSE WE ARE LIKE SHEEP AND THEIR TRY TO LEAD US TO SLAUGHTER. WAKE UP PEOPLE, CITY COUNCIL IS OUT TO RULE US AND YOU ARE WILLING TO FALL IN LINE AND END UP AS A WIMPY TOWN THAT HAS NO BACK BONE. BRAINWASHED IS MAYBE THE BEST WORD. AMAZING HOW THEY THREATENED US WITH NO PROTECTION BUT MIRACLES OF MIRACLES, THEY FOUND THEY MONEY TO KEEP US SAFE SO NOW WE HAVE FULL STAFF POLICE AND FIREMAN.
