University of Colorado Sex Scandal

By: Associated Press

The University of Colorado athletic director said surveys of women in the athletic department show concern about off-color comments and a good old boys network.

One employee wrote that men within the department felt free to
make sexist comments to her.

Athletic director Dick Tharp provided details of the 2003 surveys to the Board of Regents panel investigating the football program. The investigation includes whether sex and alcohol were used to entice recruits to the Boulder campus.

Panel member Jacqueline St. Joan said some of the responses were
disturbing. St. Joan is a judge and outspoken victims' advocate.

At least eight women have accused football players or recruits
of rape since 1997. Those women include an athletics department
employee.

No charges have been filed, but the state attorney general is
heading an investigation to determine whether criminal charges are
warranted.
