Colorado Springs firefighters have contained a grass fire in the area near Coronado High School. The fire was burning in the area of Fillmore Street and Farnham Point.
The fire is now reportedly in the "mop up" stage and no longer growing. 12 acres have burned according to fire crews.
Right now firefighters don't know the cause, but they say students from the high school will often cross the street to that field to smoke cigarettes. Investigators are questioning 3 people, a bus driver, a high school student and a junior high student.
A spokesperson from the fire department says the fire did not directly affect activity at the school.
No homes were evacuated or threatened.

The spelling and grammar in these comments are atrocious. I can't believe these are middle school and high school age kids. Getting out of school early is the last thing you all need. Also, good job CSFD.
I go to Holmes Middle School and my friends and I saw the hole thing we looked out the window and we could see the flames. It was really scary that we saw that I was scard that our school was going to burn down. We where pritty close to the frie and it was on our side of the strret. outside of my class we have a fence and right behind there was the frie and our sacity gards were watching it.
