Colorado Springs police are looking for the public's help to find the person or persons responsible for several break-ins early Tuesday morning.
A total of five stores in Colorado Springs were targeted by the burglar. Police responded to the first alarm around 12:05am. When they arrived at the Tj Maxx store at 3999 Palmer Park Boulevard, they found the front window had been smashed in. A short time later, police with the Sand Creek division responded to a similar call from the Target store on North Academy and Platte. There they found the suspect had not only shattered the front window, he had also gone inside and broken into the jewelry case, making off with an unknown amount of jewelry.
Just north of the Target store the burglar then targeted the Gart Brothers, but was unsuccessful. Two more stores just northwest of there including the Advance Auto Parts were also targeted. In that case the thief made off with some tools.
Finally the thief hit Gold Camp Jewelry & Loan on east Fillmore. Again, the person stole some jewelry.
Police say they believe the burglar spent, at most, 30 to 45 seconds in each store.
Officers say the suspect was caught on surveillance video in at least two of the break-ins. He's described as a white or hispanic male, about six feet tall and wearing dark clothing.
If you have any information about these robberies, you are asked to contact Crime Stoppers. The number in Colorado Springs is 634-STOP, or 542-STOP in Pueblo.
