U-S Airways and United Airlines have announced a new marketing partnership that will allow the two airlines to sell tickets on each other's flights.
The code-sharing agreement is a major part of a restructuring
plan U-S Airways is implementing to avoid bankruptcy.
United has a hub in Denver, where it dominates passenger
traffic.
U-S Airways has a strong presence on the East Coast.
It has long sought such a partnership to take advantage of its strength in that region and to try to serve customers who want to fly out West or internationally, where United's presence is stronger.
Many airlines have created similar alliances as a way to combine
strengths.
