After snowfall along the I-25 corridor Sunday be on the lookout for slick road conditions tonight and during your Monday morning commute. Some areas picked up several inches of snow through the day and, while additional snowfall is not expected to continue, snow packed and wet roadways will freeze overnight as temperatures drop into the teens. Skiiers in Colorado may soon have to follow different laws for the first time in 25 years.
Republican state senator Jack Taylor of Steamboat has proposed an update to a 1979 law. It outlines acceptable and safe behavior for skiers and snowboarders.
Taylor says the current law isn't up to date with today's snow sports.
Since the law was passed, the ski industry has seen the invention of shaped skis, snowboarding, and terrain parks. The new version of the law adds language to acknowledge those changes.
The bill passed the house this week and has received initial senate approval. Governor Owens could sign it by the end of the month.
