A strong cold front will move through Southern Colorado today. It will bring much colder temperatures (especially in the afternoon), strong wind, a few rain/snow showers, and blowing dust to Southern Colorado. Light snow accumulations and poor visibility will be possible for a time this afternoon and evening north of Colorado Springs and south/southwest of Pueblo. A defense contractor will bring $800 million of work and jobs to Colorado Springs.
Virginia-based SI International has been commissioned to modernize and maintain land and satellite communications systems for the air force. Under the contract, it will also install and test intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance networks around the world.
The company's CEO says 175 Colorado Springs employees will work on the project.
