With the latest round of cuts, Lucent will have cut 70 percent
of its work force from a peak of 155-thousand employees in July
2000.
Today's earnings report marks Lucent's ninth-straight
money-losing quarter. The quarterly loss compares with a loss of
three-point two (b) billion dollars a year earlier.
