Snow is expected to develop for our Monday afternoon and overnight hours. Bands of heavier snow are possible..and something we will be monitoring throughout the day today. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for far northern El Paso County where ~4" are possible by Tuesday morning. Also ahead, a High Wind Watch for much of southeast Colorado from 4-11am Tuesday morning as wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph. Evacuation alerts were lifted Saturday night for two subdivisions near the Picnic Rock fire.
Cool, wet weather has helped firefighting efforts in Larimer County.
Crews continued to build a fireline around the 87 hundred acre fire. Four hundred firefighters were on the front lines, leading to a 30 percent containment of the fire.
One hundred forty families are still out of their homes but fire crews will assess those evacuation orders around the clock to see when they can return.
Earlier in the week, flames destroyed a house and a garage.
