Fort Carson Soldier Killed In Iraq

The Department of Defense identifies the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment soldier killed in Iraq on Wednesday.

Fort Carson officials say First Lieutenant Michael R. Adams was killed
while traveling in a convoy headed to Kuwait to prepare for redeployment.

Adams was a 24-year-old commissioned officer from Seattle.

Fort Carson officials say a passing vehicle struck his tank, causing a mounted weapon to strike him from behind.

Adams was pronounced dead on arrival at a combat support hospital

The accident is still under investigation.

He was the 44th Fort Carson soldier killedin Iraq since the war began.
