A storm system will begin to impact Southern Colorado by late this morning. Mountain locations will simply see snow, but lower elevations will see rain eventually change to snow by later this afternoon. Locations higher in elevation will see the heaviest snow, due to colder temperatures. So then, Teller County, far northwest El Paso County, and the Wet & Sangre de Cristo Mountains will likely see several inches of wet snow. The major cities will see far less snow and the storm will exit toward early Saturday morning.
A Colorado Springs group says it's located the first silver dollar ever struck in the United States.
The dollar dates from 1794 and is in mint condition. That leads the American Numismatic Association to believe that it was the first one ever struck
The details that are still prominent on the coin mean it was likely protected immediately after it was struck.
Rare Coin Wholesalers president Steven Contursi says he bought the coin for several million dollars. The coin is insured for $10 million.
He says the dealer who sold it to him has already offered to buy it back for $2 million more than the original price.
