After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon, though areas in higher elevations could see 1-2". The main impact will be the cold along with winds gusting up to 40 mph at times. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
Former Greeley teacher Don Perl wants to remove the standardized tests out of all classrooms.
CSAP tests have been an ongoing discussion ever since they were first introduced in the late 1990's. The standardized tests measure not only how the child is doing academically but also how well schools are teaching their students. But many teachers feel it's a waste of time. And for many students and parents, like Kevin Cavanaugh, it's becoming a dirty 4-letter word.
"Schools are too worried about how they do in CSAP's rather than how the students are learning and doing well."
Both teachers and students say the issue isn't whether the tests are helpful. It's that too much time and focus are spent preparing for it.
Before the initiative can be put on the November ballot, 68,000 signature must be collected.
