McInnis Not Running for Senate

Republican Congressman Scott McInnis will not campaign for the Senate seat soon to be vacated by Ben Nighthorse Campbell, leaving the field of Republicans very thin.

McInnis says he's not entering the race because he has accepted a position with a Denver law firm when he ends his fifth term in the U.S. House in January.

Another hopeful, GOP representative, Tom Tancredo says he will run for re-election in his house district rather than campaign for senate.

Former Congressman Bob Schaffer of Fort Collins is currently the only republican expected to campaign for the seat. He's expected to make an official announcement sometime next week.

The field of democrats remains strong, however. Attorney General Ken Salazar and Fountain educator Mike Miles are just two of the many democrats looking to take the seat.
