High Fire Danger Returns Today

Beulah Running Dry

The drought has caused the one-thousand-person town's water
sources to dry up, and residents have been relying on bottled water
and water trucked in from elsewhere.
The local telephone company and state agencies have joined to
truck water into town. A spokesman for Governor Bill Owens says a
water tanker from the state Office of Emergency Management will
refill the town's two-thousand-gallon tank with drinking water as
often as needed.
But without a good rain, the town's water taps are expected to
go dry this weekend. People already were on a ration of ten gallons
a day.
Beulah's main water sources are the nearly dry Saint Charles
River and the not-quite-as-dry Middle Creek.
