Moderate snow continues to fall for some areas of northern El Paso and Teller Counties, accumulating in the grass and yards. Meanwhile, in the plains and along the southern I-25 stretch, light rain/snow mix continues. Take it slow on the roadways - due to VERY strong winds, we are seeing blowing dirt and snow (depending on the region), which is tremendously reducing visibility. The plant will be built near Xcel's Commanche Generating Station
southeast of Pueblo. The plant could begin operation by late 2009.
Pueblo is expected to reap strong economic benefits from the
decision. More than 250 (m) million dollars could be spent on construction with about one-thousand workers needed during the building phase.
The company plans to hire 40 additional full-time employees to
operate the plant. The plan is still awaiting approval from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
