"I have so much hate. I know I'm not supposed to hate. But I hate him for what he's done." A Canon City mother is overcome with anger, after her teenaged daughter is hit by a vehicle. The driver kept on going.

Canon City police say 17-year old Megan Terrill was hit as she walked along South First Street. The impact threw her about 174 feet. But it would be at least an hour before someone discovered the teen---unconscious in a ditch.

Very early Sunday morning, a newspaper carrier found Megan. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where she is now in a coma.

Her family is left to wonder how someone could do this. "She has a broken femur. That's nothing. We can all break our leg, but this is her life. This is our life.” Megan’s mother, Anne Mary Terrill, fights back tears as her shares her frustrations.

"She's a real sweetheart. She's a real fun-loving girl. I just want everyone to pray for her and I hope that someone will come forward," says her father, Marty Kethcum.

Doctors say Megan may not survive. It's that news that has rocked her family. "It's the toughest thing I can imagine. I hate to see her suffer," says Terrill.

Megan has plenty of support by her bedside. She's one of six kids. "We have a wonderful extended loving family and we will get each other through this, but we need Megan."

At last report, Megan was in critical condition at Saint Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo.

The Canon City police chief has scheduled a press conference for 10:30 Tuesday morning. He will have an update on the investigation and urge the driver to come forward.

Investigators are looking for a 1999 or 2000 model Chevy pickup or SUV. It's likely to have front-end damage, especially to the right headlight. If you have any information, call Fremont County Crime Stoppers at 719-276-5600.
