A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
Domestic violence has become a national epidemic. In fact, research suggests that it happens every 15 seconds and claims a woman's life every 21 days.
So, a local organization that helps victims has teamed up with Wal-Mart to make a difference. All six Wal-Mart locations in the Pikes Peak region are collecting old cell phones for TESSA. The organization will then reprogram the phones and give them to clients. That way they can call law enforcement directly if they need help. Cathy Berdon, Director of Development for TESSA says, "The feedback that we receive from our clients.. having that safety option is life saving."
TESSA serves victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. It receives between 40 and 50 thousand calls for help each year.
