Colorado Springs Police are looking for a woman accused of stabbing her ex-boyfriend in the chest early Thursday morning.

Officers contacted a man inside his home at 2643 E. Caramillo St. around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. They say 34-year-old Shannon McCants had a serious stab wound to his lower chest and lacerations to his chin. Police followed a five block long blood trail to determine where McCants was stabbed.

McCants told police his ex-girlfriend, 33-year old Samantha Peyton stabbed him. McCants was taken to a hospital to be treated. At last report he was in serious but stable condition.

Police say they have McCants side of the story but are eager to find out if Peyton may have been defending herself. "Obviously that's something we're looking into,” said Sgt. Tim Stankey of the Colorado Springs Police Department. “That's always a possibility in a situation where we only have one half of the situation. We would obviously want to talk with the other party involved to get the other side of the story," said Stankey.

The search continues for Samantha Peyton. She's described as a Hispanic woman, 5’2” tall, with brown hair and brown eyes.

If you have any information on the assault, call Crimestoppers at 634-stop.

Sissy, you bet. Althought we do not know the whole story. Domestic violence is most always seen in the media as Man on Woman but there are many Woman on Man incidents. There are plenty of freaky women out there. Not taking a side or defending anyone, just waiting to hear the whole story.
