Two bills dealing with abortion issues will likely highlight debate this week at the Legislature.
Representative Pam Rhodes is proposing a bill that would require a
physician to perform an ultrasound and give the woman a picture of
the fetus before performing an abortion. It would also require a 72-hour waiting period before the procedure could be conducted.
Senator Doug Lamborn has another proposal that would replace the
state's parental notification law with one requiring theirconsent before a minor could have an abortion.
Abortion rights activists say both bills are designed to discourage women from getting abortions.
