The Peters family home was destroyed Wednesday when a fast moving fire started in the garage. It happened at 15090 Trigger Road in Peyton.

The owner of the home, Kerri Peters, says her two children, 14-year-old Ethan and 11-year-old daughter, Cheyann were home at the time. The kids smelled smoke coming from the garage and called 911.

"My daughter called, I listened to her frantically scream and cry. And I wasn't there," said Peters.

In a rush to get home from her job in Falcon, Peters was less than 1/4 mile from her house when she saw it up in flames. "I just kind of lost it at that point," said Peters. That's when she accidentally rolled her car. She was taken to the hospital and got eight staples in her head. But, besides some bumps and bruises, she's okay. Police ticketed her for careless driving. Her car was totaled.

The entire house is a loss. Peters tells 11 News that she's devastated. The family lost nearly everything. Sunday, her husband and son went to the burned home to pick up the few items they could save.

Peters says several schools in Peyton are holding clothes and food drives for the family.

An account for the family has been set up at ENT Federal Credit Union. Donations are being made to the Kerri Peters fire fund.

Hi, i'm the father and husband. I would like everyone to know that there was not a meth lab and my wife did not get a dui and i would appreciate it if all the rumors would stop. This is a very hard time for my wife and the kids and other people don't need to be making it harder by starting rumors. No, my wife and i are'nt together but i still love her and the kids with all my heart and have helped in every way possible and will keep doing so for as long as it takes. They are my life and always will be!!!

The kids are tough. The mom is smart. They will survive this. The mom is my baby sister's baby girl and inherited savvy. Our extended family will close together and do what needs to be done and woe be to anyone who interferes, with eternal gratitude to any and all who help. To the airheads texting nonsense when they should be doing homework or the fat, bald, human wanna-be typing with one hand while cruzzing, time to go back out with the other animals and let those who care show their caring. And thanks to all who are doing so. "Casting bread upon the waters" usually results in donuts and apple pie washing up in your life later.
