Once again Pueblo residents are the target of a foreign lottery scam.
Victims are receiving letters from “El Gordo Spanish Sweepstake Lottery S.A.” It tells people their name is attached to a winning ticket number. The letter goes on to say they have been approved for a lump sum pay out of $615,810. It then requests that the receiver keep the letter secret from the public, until the claim has been processed and money added to the recipient's bank account. A second letter, from "Santa Lucia Security Company, S.A." is also attached, requesting that you fill out your name, address and all other pertinent banking information.
The Pueblo Police Department wants residents to be aware, the letters have no merit, and are part of a scam. They are warning the public never to give any personal information about yourself or your banking account to anyone over the phone or through the mail.
