A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
The Defense Department confirms that a Marine from Longmont has been killed in combat operations in Iraq.
Military officials say Staff Sergeant Dustin M. Gould died Friday in Anbar province. He was 28.
Gould was assigned to the 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Pendleton in California.
His mother, Karen, said last week that her son was disarming a bomb when he was killed. He was scheduled to return home in April.
His survivors also include his wife, his father and a sister.
Gould was a native of Norman, Oklahoma, but graduated from high school in Colorado, where he enlisted in 1996.
