According to the calendar, Monday is the last full day of summer. But as we've seen, the weather has been telling a different story.

Forget summer and fall, in Teller County winter came early. The snow fell all day Monday, blanketing much of the county in white.

"It's pretty crazy. I wasn't expecting a lot of snow," says Erin Drew, who works in Woodland Park.

"I'm not quite ready for winter," says Drew, as she brushes the snow from her car.

And she's not alone. It seems like the snow caught a lot of people off guard. "I was very surprised because it's not even the Fall Equinox yet," says Debbie Benedict, adding she’s not excited about winter.

Even though summer doesn't officially end until Tuesday, thanks to Mother Nature, Woodland park looks like a winter wonderland. "I've had all the people from Colorado Springs calling me the last two hours saying do you have snow, and I said sure we do," says Woodland Park resident Jack Heiberger.

Snow blanketed trees and cars, in some places about an inch deep. Not everyone is thrilled to see the white stuff falling. But almost everyone we talked to is optimistic that the sunshine will return.
