Colorado might soon have a state rock.
Girl Scout Troop 357 of Lakewood is lobbying the state Legislature to give the honor to Yule marble. It's a pure white stone quarried south of Carbondale, near Aspen.
The marble has been used at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery and at the Colorado State Capitol.
The girls have been researching the project for two years.
A House committee approved the troop's proposal yesterday. It now goes to the Senate.
