Huerfano County has been declared a disaster area because of drought conditions.
County Commissioners say there is an imminent threat of
widespread or severe damage to property owners. In declaring the
disaster yesterday, commissioner say there is a potential loss of
life or injury and the possible loss of water supplies.
Walsenburg has advanced to Stage Four of it's water restrictions, which prohibits all outdoor water use.
Residents will be fined for any water restriction violations and
repeat offenders will have their water service disconnected.
