El Paso County Attorney Mike Lucas has left his job after a month-long investigation into alleged nepotism.
Lucas was already on paid leave when he departed on Thursday. County commissioners approved the move, but were careful not to
call it a "resignation" or a "firing."
An agreement cited "differences of opinion concerning appropriate management" of the county attorney's office. Lucas had been under investigation since December 18th amid accusations that he arranged to have his sister hired for his department, and that he took direction from her on other employment decisions.
Lucas says the agreement prevents him from discussing the reasons for his departure.
