Blood Shortage

By: KKTV

Penrose-St. Francis Hospital is looking for blood donors.

They say blood supplies, particularly for types "O" and "A" positive, are running very low, less than half their normal levels. And it's not just that hospital.

Blood banks nationwide typically see a shortage this time of year as donors are out of town or too busy to make a stop.

About 3 quarters of the population have type "O" or "A" positive blood.

Penrose says they need 200 donors a week to maintain their inventory and welcome any types of donations.
