A man whose three dogs attacked an eight-year-old girl and her mother has been sentenced to two years' probation.
Gary Brown, age 39 of Colorado Springs, was also ordered to complete 300 hours of community service. He pleaded guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor charge of having a dangerous dog.
The two American bulldogs and miniature pinscher attacked Kelsi Lunas-Llanes for nearly 20 minutes in front of her home in August. She and her sister and some friends were having a party, in celebration of Kelsi's upcoming birthday. The dogs attacked Kelsi, as she tried to protect her 3-year-old sister.
She had bites and tear wounds on her head, shoulders and back and
was hospitalized for four days.
Her mother was bitten when she tried to pull the dogs off her daughter.
The bulldogs were destroyed, while the 12-pound miniature pinscher was adopted.
